A NOTE FROM SANDRA
Hello everyone!

My name is Sandra Bea, and I am honored and excited to serve as the new school director at the French American School of Denver (FASD).

As an educator and administrator, I bring over 25 years of experience of which 20 were spent in the Immersion Language Program. Before joining FASD, I worked at Global Village Academy and spent 15 years in various positions: French Teacher, Coach, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Executive Director of Immersion. I also helped start a private immersion school in Denver, Colorado International School, where I taught and led the French Program for five years.

I hold a Master of Arts in Administration Leadership and Policies Studies from the Colorado University of Denver, a Bachelor’s in Modern Languages, and a Minor in Education (K-12) from the Metropolitan State University of Denver.

I’m a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo (D.R.Congo) and speak five languages: English, French, Lingala, Swahili, and Tshiluba. I moved to Colorado in 2001, where I met my husband, Daniel, with whom we have three beautiful children: Faida, Jelani, and Jua. Our daughter, Faida, is in her 3rd year at the University of Denver; Jelani, our middle son, is a junior at Mountain Range High School, and Jua, our youngest son, is a 4th grade Mandarin student.

As a parent with children who have been part of the Immersion Program (my daughter was an immersion student in Spanish and French, my sons in Mandarin and French), I aim to foster a safe, welcoming, respectful, and FUN learning French environment for our students, families and professional staff. We will be a School that goes above and beyond to ensure your child receives the best education with high expectations.

On a lighter note, I’m first and foremost a soccer and basketball mom! When I am not shuttling my sons to their games and practices, I enjoy reading, traveling, discovering the world with my family, and meeting new friends. I also run a non-profit organization which I founded to help girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo complete their High School education and become productive members of society.

I look forward to getting to know each one of you! À bientôt!!

School Director
A NOTE FROM JULIA
To our FASD Staff, Families and Community:
This past June, my fellow Board members elected me as your next Board Chair. I humbly accepted the role, knowing full well the immense responsibility this role has to our School and our Community. Though our growth since our inaugural year should be celebrated, we still have much to accomplish. There is no shortage of work, but the privilege of being part of this Community and working on behalf of this School, will always be an honour and a blessing.
As we continue to grow, it is imperative we all band together to support the success of our School’s core Vision and Mission. We are the only free public charter school offering French language-immersion curriculum meeting the highest educational standards of the United States and France. With our talented teachers and administrative staff, led by our dynamic New School Director; our unique and comprehensive curriculum, and our growing roster of students and families…we, the French American School of Denver, will thrive for years to come.
"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."--Charles Darwin
I look forward to my tenure as your Board Chair and as a FASD parent.
With gratitude and fortitude,
Board Chair
